Not needed if you purchase the Winegard Support Mounting Plate.

This product is good and needed if you just purchase the Winegard Trav'ler DirecTV Slimline Satellite Dish and it is mounted direct to your RV rooftop however it is not needed if your purchase the Winegard Support Mounting Plate. Although it costs more I do recommend purchasing the Winegard Support Mounting Plate with the Winegard Trav'ler.
