Scrim Shield tape is praised for its stickiness and ability to match the original material of RV underbellies. Some users found it a bit difficult to work with initially due to its strong adhesive properties. However, others appreciate its effectiveness for quick repairs while on the road.
I used this tape to reseal the under body of my trailer after I installed some chocks. It is thin and sticky and took a piece or two to get used to. Tape sticks well and is the same finish as the OEM material, (not that anyone is under my trailer looking). I did take the time to prep the area by wiping with alcohol prior to install so it should stay put pretty much forever.
It seems expensive, but then again there is 180' of it.
Dyers shipped it fast and I got it quickly.
This stuff is STICKY! I used it to patch up the sides and rear of a hole I cut in the underbelly that I potentially will need to get in later.
I used it in repair of an access hole I cut in the underbelly. I figure this material will be easy to cut into and I can feel where the original cuts are in the underbelly so I won't make additional cuts in it. I used Nashua Select Flashing tape from Home Depot for permanent underbelly repair, such as for fashioning a hinge on the front side of the opening which I forgot to do when I cut into the underbelly. The Nashua product is much heavier material and should last for a long long time.
However, for on the road, I'm taking the Scrim Shield with me in the event I need to make a repair. After cleaning off the dirt, I used alcohol to assure a clean area for the tape to stick. Did I say this stuff was sticky? That aspect should help if you need to make a repair on the road.
this is the only tape I would ever use in the underbelly of any RV. it's a little hard to work with untill you get the hang of it, just because it sticks so well it wants to stick to everything. great product
This is a great product, I had a hard time finding it where I could buy it. The RV dealers didn't offer it to the public. They only had it for their use at the dealership.
