RV Ranges

RV Ranges

When choosing an RV range, there are a couple of options you will have a choice between. You will need to choose between size, color, number of burners, and ignition style. Some ranges will also include a built-in broiler, so make sure to pay attention to that feature if it sounds useful.

To choose the size, you will need to know how much room you have for your installation. Base your size decision off of these measurements. Color will only be a cosmetic choice and will not affect operation.

Most ranges are going to be 3-burner ranges, so you might not get much of a selection as far as burner quantity and configuration go. Each burner will, however, have a separate BTU rating, which will tell you what its heating capabilities are. Most ranges will have two equal smaller-size burners and one "super burner" that will have a much higher BTU rating, giving it more heating power to handle much larger-sized pots and pans than the others.

Ignition is the biggest thing to consider when looking for an RV range. You will have to choose between a manual ignition range or a range equipped with Piezo ignition.

Manual ignition ranges require you to light the burner with an outside flame source, such as a match or lighter. The main advantage of a manual ignition range is the reduced cost. These ranges are generally cheaper than those equipped with Piezo ignition.

A Piezo ignition is an electric ignition system activated by a push button or sometimes a knob. It works similarly to a BBQ grill ignition, where a spark is used to ignite the gas. Piezo ignitions are more convenient as your stove does not rely on outside equipment to be lit.
