Awning power motor
Review byDorygirl
Fit my dometic 9100 power awning perfectly, easy to install, works great. Dyers got it to me quickly , decent price for the motor .
The experts at Dyers were awesome! After ordering the wrong motor from a different dealer with a higher price, i was very skeptical about ordering another, but the experts at Dyers assured me that this was the correct replacement motor for my awning. And they were absolutely correct ant the installation was very easy. I will definitely call on Dyers again for any other RV parts i may need in the future!
Dometic Polar White WeatherPro and Power Awning Drive Assembly
Review byLindsay
First of all cannot recommend Dyers enough for there help. There are quite a few different motors for the units and the girls there we very helpful in assisting me order the correct on.
Delivery was extremely prompt. The installation took all of 10 minutes. You need a ladder. Drill & drill bit and an adjustable spanner, a hex head screw head to undo the old fitting and remove it and finally a small pop rivet gun. Once out prop the awning up while you slide the new fitting in to place. Do up all the screws. Pop rivet the new fitting and away you go. It works.
The drive is excellent. The real problem that made me replace the old, burned one was the three position switch in the RV. It got stuck in the "Extend" position and provided power to the motor in the fully extended position of the awning (motor is blocked in this position!). I disassembled the burned drive and I was impressed how it is build. Very well engineered and high standard of components used. I will try to add a protection circuit to the control switch to prevent an other burn-up of the valuable drive motor
In looking for a replacement motor for the awning on our older Alfa See Ya Motorhome, I found your site with the best price and best description of the part. Our model is the older one though, and the part was not a straight bolt in. In looking at the parts though I found that the motor and wiring were the same even though the mounting was different. So I just took the old one and new one apart down to the shaft coming out of the gear reduction, reassembled the the new motor with the old mounting hardware and it worked flawlessly (about an hour extra time). Total time for replacement was about 3 hours, including all of the safety precautions to prevent damage and injury (I took my time on this).
By the way since I had the old motor half torn down anyway I decided to take it apart to see what failed. It was the brake that would not disengage, so I salvaged the rest of it for other projects (you never know when you will need a good 12 volt gear reduction motor for opening something).
