Description / B&W All New Re-Designed Companion 5th Wheel Hitch
We would like to introduce the re-designed Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch. Many things have changed since the Companion was first designed over 15 years ago … trucks are taller and have higher weight ratings, fifth-wheels are longer and heavier. We have modernized the base to keep up with these changes while the coupler remains the same.
What's different?
Higher Weight Rating:
20k instead of 18k. Truck ratings are going up. Bigger, heavier fifth-wheel trailers with more slide-outs and space for toys are gaining in popularity. This new Companion is stout, and 33 pounds heavier than the 3000 model.
More Height Adjustment:
14.75” to 16.75” was the height adjustment with the Companion 3000. 16.25" to 18.25” is now the adjustment with the Companion 3500.
No More U-Bolts:
The post that attaches the Companion through a single point to the mounting system below the bed, now uses bolts instead of U-bolts making it more user-friendly.
Adjustable Foot Pads:
Adjustable plastic feet fill in the bed recesses, allowing the Companion to be used in more applications.
New Post Allows for Forward to Aft Adjustment:
Now the post can be mounted in two different towing positions relative to the truck axle. This will allow it to be used in more applications, including the 2013 Ram 3500 pickups.

This is a great add-on the the B&W turnover ball. I have the B&W turnover ball for my gooseneck and love that it keeps the bed of the truck free of obstacles.
The B&W Companion hitch uses the turnover ball hitch and allows the bed of the truck to remain open. When you are finished with it, you simple pull it out and re-insert your turnover ball.
In the past, I used rails for both the gooseneck and the 5th wheel attachment. Due to the weight of the trailers, it cause the bed of my truck to warp. Since the turnover ball mounts solidly between the frame, there is not weight on the bed.
The B&W Companion hitch uses the turnover ball hitch and allows the bed of the truck to remain open. When you are finished with it, you simple pull it out and re-insert your turnover ball.
